We have bad news. Apple has rejected our “You Are Hot!” application. It will not be published on the App Store. They argue that the application “contains objectionable content”.
”You Are Hot!” is a social application where you can discover what other people think about you: What's your first impression of me? How old do I look? Do you think I'm pretty? Is my stile outdated? With “You Are Hot" you can attach pictures to your questions, make polls, and send private messages to othe

In this post I want to talk about one of our first iPhone/Android projects: Work Manager. Our idea was to make a mobile application for professionals that want to manage their working time in order to better spend it in properly having their work done. The application was intended to help professionals to identify their roles in their compan…

Do you know what is a parlour game? Well, a parlour game is just a group game played indoors. During the Victorian era in Great Britain and in the United States, these games were extremely popular among the upper and middle classes. They were often played in a parlour, hence the name, by gentlemen and ladies to amuse themselves at small parties. Unfortunately, parlour games decreased in popularity in the first half of the 20th century as radio, movies, and later, television captured more of the…

I have a lot of experience working with computers, back to year 1983. Moreover, I have a university degree in computer science. So, it is supposed I'm a specialist in computers. However, there is no day I have some kind of problems using them. And I do not mean problems managing large or complex data centers. I mean, problems as an average user that only wants to read his mail and surf a little bit the web.
I think the problem of the PC, the Personal Computer, is that by definition it is a wron…

In a previous
post I said I was not a Genius Fan, and since then, I have got dozens of emails of angry people because I do not like the Apple recommendation system.
First of all, I would like to clarify that I said "I'm not a Genius Fan". I have not said I hate Genius. Moreover, I have not said I dislike Genius. What I said is that I does not belong to Genius fan club.
Well, I have to admit that Genius…

If you want to know something about iPhone development you can just google around a bit or get into the huge and helpfull
iPhone Dev Center. The documents you can find there are full of detail, so some of them are just too deep and you won't probably need them, but there are some of them wich are a must (for example the…

Ok, here we are again, talking about the App Store and how difficult is for small application development companies to make their applications visible. Of course, large companies do not have this problem, because they have marketing departments and huge marketing budgets.
In a
previous post we where analyzing how the flood of new titles has created fierce competition among developers, and how m…

Sabec is the developer which will try to release this application soon, a video camera app working on a 3G. We say 'try' because it is uncertain if this application will be validated by Apple since the iPhone 3.0 update doesn't enable video camera on the 3G.
The video shows the app in action, it's not the final version so we guess the quality will be improved and sound recording added (doesn't seem to record the audio, weird). But this is a proof of what the 3G is capable of. Apple told us it c…

The anti-phising feature for Safari in the latest iPhone OS 3.1 had some strange behaviors identifying some sites as dangerous while in other iPhone/iPods not. The reasons were unclear until
Loopt contacted Apple and asked them about this problem. The answer to this strange behavior makes sense:
"Safari's anti-phishing database is downloaded while the user charges their phone…

A location-based service (LBS) is an information or entertainment service for mobile devices that uses the user's geographical position. There are many applications of mobile services, in a variety of contexts, such as health, work, personal life, etc. For example, thanks to LBS it is possible to discover the nearest banking cash machine, or the whereabouts of a friend.
There are hundreds of apps for the iPhone that provide location-based services, most of them combining these services with soc…

Smart phones are the fastest growing segment of the mobile phone market, everybody knows. Even more, it is the most profitable one. And we have seen the last two years a war among software and device manufacturers to position themselves in this highly profitable market: Nokia, LG, Samsung, Sony Ericsson, HTC, Toshiba, Palm, Acer, RIM, ... We had new devices every quarter: touch screens, accelerometers, GPS, 3G, and many other wonderful hardware features; all of them providing these fancy touch-b…

We don't usually talk about cases but this time we think it is worth to talk about this one, just because we are all afraid of our iPhone's screens :)
iBand uses a
non-newtonian fluid to protect your iPhone and the results (shown in the video) are pretty good in our opinion. We wouldn't recommend, anyway, to throw your iPhone or iPod like they do in the video but it's a nice case for those unfortunate-events :)

We have seen so many unbelievable rumors but this one is unexpectedly unbelievable:
"every iPod will get a built-in camera". That even includes the getting-older-faster-than-flash iPod Classic!
This rumor comes from OmniVision telling us he will be the sole supplier of the new camera modules, but include the iPod Classic in the camera upgrade is just kinda weird for Apple since the iPod Touch seems the natural evolution of the iPod Classic and it was supposed to disappear sooner or later…
